Last Train to Freo
Two thugs on a late night suburban train get more than they bargain for when they start looking for trouble. Written by Reg Cribb, directed by Jeremy Sims, starring Steve Le Marquand, Tom Budge, Gigi Edgley, Glenn Hazeldine and Gillian Jones.
Behind the Scenes
Last Train To Freo (aka Long Way To Freo) was the first film to be chosen under West Coast Visions Initiative, a competitive scheme developed by ScreenWest to promote WA stories on film.
Using a mix of studio and location, the film was shot on High Definition by cinematographer Toby Oliver over four weeks in Perth. Production Designer Clayton Jauncey constructed a full scale suburban train carriage in Sunset Studios, using rear projection to simulate the background imagery from Midland to Fremantle.
The script was adapted by Reg Cribb from his award winning play The Return, which has already been staged successfully in the UK, Canada and New Zealand. Director Jeremy Sims is better known as an actor than someone who calls the shots, but in fact he's directed several plays, including the acclaimed Last Cab To Darwin. Reg and Jeremy are now hoping to include modes of transport in all their productions.
